Hi, The files that you download from the Internet are not downloaded directly to the Applications folder. When you download something, it is placed in the Downloads folder of your Home directory. This is found by going to the Finder or Desktop, pressing cmd-shift-h then navigating to the Downloads folder. The applications are only put into the Applications folder either after running the installer package or by copying them into the Applications folder directly. Adobe uses an installer, so, there will be something in your Downloads folder. With respect to Flash, there is no Flash application put into the Applications folder as your actually installing the Flash Internet plug-in. Also, there's no need to delete the old one as it is replaced by the update/install.
