Hi is refit just for bootcamp or will it work with a vm thanks

It's a boot manager, so it does not do anything by itself once installed. It kicks in when you boot your Mac; see Google for details on the setup. As to multiple operating systems, I don't think you can. Consider a virtualization program like Virtual Box or VMWare Fusion for that instead.
