Hi all, I've written an AppleScript to change the name of the selected table in Numbers. Thought I'd share it here for those of you who haven't developed something similar for yourselves.
The script works on the table in focus. Most of the time this simply means navigating to the table with VoiceOver, but if there's only one table sometimes you need to interact with it. The script then prompts you for the name of the table which you can enter and then press return to apply it to the table. It's pretty self explanatory. You can activate the script in which ever way suits you best. Personally, I'm using Keyboard Maestro, but you could just as easily use VoiceOver's Keyboard Commander (I'm running out of free keys), the script menu in Numbers to which you could assign a system keyboard shortcut or you could create a service with automator. Anyway, without further ado, click here or use the following URL to download the script: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/58683113/Change%20name%20of%20selected%20table%20in%20Numbers.scpt If you have any troubles using the script there's plenty of people on this list who can help you. Also, on my to-do list is making the script work for tables in Pages as well. This should be pretty easy to do, but thought I'd share it before playing further.
