I'm pretty sure you can still edit cells while a filter is active, but I'm not in a position to double check that right now so don't take it as 100% true. The main thing is to use only the arrow keys to navigate. If you use the VO keys as I have often done, you get yourself in all sorts of trouble when there are hidden rows/columns.
Yep, I'm really loving Numbers too, and it only seems to get better the more I learn and with each update.
