I am not sure as I have completely removed gmail from this computer, but can tell you that I am still having a lot of issues with mammal as far as sluggishness and in standard view sometimes the right arrow will open a thread of articles and other times it does not. I have never been able to get VO backslash to open a thread of messages yet if I go in to the mailbox table VO backslash works perfectly fine opening a mailbox so I can view the mailboxes subfolders. So strange that Apple just can't seem to get mac mail working and working the same way day to day in Mavericks. The Mac Mail issues is not just VoiceOver related as I have seen a lot of articles of people still having serious issues with Mac Mail, so somebody dropped the ball big time in the design and working of Mac Mail.
