i went through my highjack settings again, and i managed to fix it! audio is again coming out of what it's supposed to come out of grin. my speakers. think it was going to default system input or some other odd thing. no idea why this was. i've never had a mac app change my settings lol. glad i got it fixed. i can now record tv again lol.
