10 to 15 minutes to scan a full system and backup changed items
doesn't seem long to me. I am assuming you have it set to backup ALL,
not just your user folders. So we're not just talking about documents
you edit. But anything system files settings files anything that it
backs up it looks to see if it changed. Think how long it took to do a
complete backup the first time, likely over an hour, maybe much more.

But if you want to know you can look at the logs and see exactly what
it backed up, and what it did.

Just schedule it to backup on it's own at a time when you don't use
your computer. Then you'll never see how long it takes. Just a good
idea to check on it every so often to be SURE it backed up. Before an
important change like upgrading to SL I booted from my Superduper
Clone just to be sure it booted fine. I had before also, just wanted
to be super sure I was good to go.

I used to be an Enterprise Backup System Administrator. I backed up
servers all over the country. It takes time to move data on the
fastest of systems. That's why I personally don't believe in cloud
backups as backups. Only a place to archive some important files. To
me a backup is what I get with SD. Something I can turn to in the
event of a failure to get me back up and working with no or little
loss of date or time. (backup soapbox.)

You can save lots of time and just have it backup your user folder.
But if you had to restore your system you'd have to install an OS, get
and install any updates and 3rd party applications, and install that
backup. So give it the 15 minutes at 3 am or whenever you sleep, and
rest good knowing you are ready.
