Hi

This might fix your problem it called Perian and adds support for
several formats of video to quicktime.

which will associate the new types with quicktime player by default.

If you still get no Joy you can use VLC which will play everything
under the sun that I know of.

On a side note installing perian will allow you to quicklook avi ,
swf, and other formats easily without having to open a player.

Also http://www.macupdate.com/ is a great place to start when looking
for software.
