Hello everyone, i have owned my first macbook pro for about a week now
(minus a few hours). I switched my mail yesterday so now I am not
tempted to use my pc if I want to do a quick websearch anymore. I
must say it goes reasonably well, there are some things I still need
to figure out (voicover keyboard commander and how to assign keys to
my braille display) to work with openoffice (luckily i was used to use
wordpad n windows on most occasions anyway and textedit seems to be a
lot better) to work in group mode in safari (but dom mode works fine)
and to see if certain applications work on the mac and for me
especially like ocr, ftp newsreaders p2p and mudclients. I also still
want to dop do an install of winxows 7 using vmware fusion when it
comes out. But on the plus side I can use adium more or less
proficiently and I can use skype so all in all after a week in which i
did not use the mac on a very regular basis I am still rather
impressed. Especially now that I can use mail with my primary mail
account. I still need to get familiar with voicover and i find that
often i need speech to find my way around (something i did not have to
do on windows where i NEVER used speech) although luckily o the mac
the way you use speech and braille are more similar to each other and
it has a nicer default problem so its not too much of a pain, i still
need to create a shortcut to mute and unmute speech though.
But, since i have used hal (the worst screenreader for windows, sorry
but it is just true) for the last 8 years I am rathe rimpressed what I
can now do under the mac with relative low experience. I love vlc for
example.
Greetings, Anoukw
