I don't call Iwork expensive, I think it was $88.00 or something like that when I purchased it earlier on this year, given that Microsoft Office is about $300.00 here and isn't accessible one bit then I think Iwork 9 goes into my "Bargain" basket, that's where most Mac applications belong by the way <smile>.
As for the question of what's better? Well, depends on your personal taste thus far as far as I can tell, i have a fondness for both and both do things very differently from each other at times. If you're familiar with Microsoft Word for example then what Neooffice presents you will look very similar whereas Pages looks somewhat different though its easy to get used to. Both product have some accessibility problems at the time of writing, at least with Neooffice we stand a good chance of having these problems addressed given that the software is "Open Source", the more problems the team know about then the better the chances of getting them fixed <smile>.
