Hello Tony, You don't need antivirus software on the Mac. Sometimes, such software can cause more problems than it solves. The only problems you might encounter are viruses in MS Word documents that you could pass on to Windows users. If you get a lot of MS Word documents as attachments to Mail messages which you then pass on to other people, you might want to get hold of ClamXav from: www.clamXav.com
You can then scan any document you think might be suspicious.
