Hi Jenny, You don't need an AIM account to use iChat. If you set up an iChat account, you entered your password, etc. as part of the set up. Start up iChat. If the AIM Buddy List window doesn't appear automatically (which you can check with the window chooser menu command: VO-F2 twice), bring up this window with Command-1. You can also do this by navigating to the Window menu on the iChat menu bar (VO-M; press "w"; arrow down to "AIM Buddy List". If you hear "Off Line" in the window, use Command-L to log on. You should hear the information that you're logging in, then a whooshing sound, and an announcement of "Buddy list, table, no selection" as the table of buddies appears. This is initially going to be empty, so VO-Right arrow and you'll hear "Add Buddy or Group button". Press the button (VO-Space) and arrow down to the menu item for "Add Buddy". A dialog window will appear prompting you to add the account name of your buddy on AIM, MobileMe or Mac.com. Fill in the Account Name in the text field. (Just enter the part before the AT in the email address). VO-Right to the pop up button and change it to AIM, MobileMe or Mac.com. For buddies that are on AIM just leave the button on the initial setting. VO-Right to the group pop up button. You can leave this as "Buddies" or you can VO-Space and change it to "Family" or "Co-Workers" (or other groups that you create). VO-Right arrow to the text fields for "First Name" and "Last Name" and fill in the fields in each combo box. If the person you are adding is in your Address Book, you can VO-Right Arrow past these combo boxes to the "Unchecked check box" that follows the last name field and check this (VO-Space). This brings up your address book in the dialog window. You can continue to VO-Right arrow and type part of the name in the search text field to "Select Person". Matches will show up in the table below, and the first and last name fields will be filled in from the address book selection. (If you only type part of a name, the first match in your address book will be selected and used to fill in the name fields, which you can check by VO-Left arrowing back to these fields.) You can also just VO- Right to the table and use your arrow keys to browse and select the buddies you want to add. Navigate past the group table (which will be set to "All") to the name entries table and interact (VO-Shift Down Arrow). You can arrow down to select any name. You'll have to fill in their AIM or MobileMe account name, at the start of the dialog window, though. Stop interacting and VO-Right Arrow past the "Cancel" button to the "Add" button and press (VO-Space) after you have reviewed the information to close the dialog window and return to the buddy list.
