Hi Jon and all who responded, Thanks so much for suggesting group navigation. You're right - it works wonderfully in this situation. I agree with whoever suggested a keystroke for changing between group and DOM navigation. I will definitely browse with VoiceOver Preferences open for a while so I can easily switch between the two modes and use the one that works best in a given situation.
