Hello everyone. My name is Bernard Maldonado. I just joined the
group. Mac Visionaries seems like an awesome resource for people who
want to embrace the power and capabilities of what Apple has to
offer. After all, it is truly a superior product over any of the PC
clone competitors.

I would like to thank Cara for giving me permission to post this note.

Please allow me to introduce an online service that may be of interest
to Mac Visionaries. Solona, found at http://www.Solona.net , is a
Human Assisted CAPTCHA Solution Service for blind and visually
impaired people. The service is fully compatible with Apple users as
well as Windows users. Solona is especially helpful when signing up
for a website that employs a CAPTCHA on the registration page. Here
are some of the main principles promoted at Solona:

1. full disclosure about the service (who, how, what, etc)
2. security and privacy for each user is paramount and documented
3. platform independent (works on Windows, Mac)
4. fast, efficient, and reliable service to users with minimal
interaction
5. free service with no levels of membership
6. provide research and information about websites and how CAPTCHAS
are implemented in the form of blog articles.

I welcome any questions, comments, or concerns that you may have.
Feel free to contact me and I'm happy to talk! Any suggestions about
how to make the service better are greatly appreciated.

The Twitter name is Solona . Twitter is used for announcements and
news about Solona.

There's much more information on the website, so I won't take more
time in this post. The Mac instructions are posted on the "How it
works" page.

In closing, I would like to share one interesting, yet possibly ironic
thought that is frequently on my mind about this service: I hope that
Solona fails, but for the right reasons. At some point in the future,
Solona should be made obsolete by the implementation of fully
accessible anti spam tools on registration pages. That will be a
major milestone for the Internet, and I look forward to that day. In
the meantime, I will continue to invest time and resources into Solona
so that it is a reliable and valuable resource in the blind community,
and I will advocate for accessible anti spam registration tools.

Bernard.
