Hi Scott,

You're right, there's now a capcha on the page you get directed to.  I  
went through the process of checking the page before I posted the  
first time to the list just because this was such a pain. There would  
have been little point in giving this information if I knew there  
would be a problem at the end.  This is really a bummer; there have  
been several reports to Apple about this.

If you read the TidBITS article, you know that this was an alternative  
means of getting a non-expiring iChat account for someone who had  
tried the trial MobileMe subscription, so it wasn't pointing to the  
same page for trial subscriptions -- at least not at the end of  
February.

I don't know how to get around this.  In the past some people who have  
AppleCare have called in to the main Apple Support number to get help,  
after first trying the signup page.  You can get the dot Mac trial  
account set up along with other account configuration when you buy a  
new machine at an Apple Store, so I didn't initially realize there was  
a general problem about trying this service out.
