Hi all, I'm using your version of the bcm5974-dkms module on my MacBook Pro with Ubuntu Lucid 10.04 Beta 1 on it. I read that drag-and-drop support in this module is experimental, so I know I can expect bugs, but I'll report this one anyway in case it is helpful. (I searched Launchpad for a way to report bugs in your project, but couldn't find any; please CC me in any replies because I'm not subscribed.)
There is a difference in drag and drop behavior between the touchpad/trackpad in Ubuntu and in Mac OS X, which can be seen when using drag-and-drop with two fingers, or "switching fingers" while in a drag and drop. There are two ways where this happens: 1. in Mac OS X, you can click on something and hold, then drag-and-drop with another finger. Then, when your finger has reached the edge of the touchpad, while keeping your other finger pressed, you can move the finger back and continue drag-and-drop. 2. In Mac OS X, you can click and drag something around with one finger; and when you reach the edge of the touchpad and you want to "switch fingers", you can press the touchpad on the other edge with another finger, then let go of the first finger, and continue drag-and-drop. With both cases, in Ubuntu, the moment you touch the touchpad with your second finger the drag-and-drop operation ends and becomes a right-click operation. I think pressing your touchpad with two fingers should only become a right-click operation if you're not in a drag-and-drop operation at the same time, ie it should only become a right-click operation if the second finger is touching the touchpad *before* the click, not after. While composing this e-mail, I noticed this also works when selecting, since selecting is a similar gesture to drag-and-drop. Try selecting one paragraph of this e-mail with one finger on your touchpad; then holding your finger and selecting another paragraph with another finger. It suddenly scrolls the message, instead of what it would do in Mac OS X: continue selecting. Hoping to hear from you, and thank you for your work, Sjors _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~mactel-support Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~mactel-support More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
