Hi,

There we go again, either my X11 environment has decided to act up again OR I
simply am imagining that something once worked and now does not any longer.

My set-up is a 13" MBP with an external 1080p monitor that is my main screen.

I'm quite certain that I have been able to use my window manager's (XFWM4)
"maximisation" button as well as the fullscreen (typically F11) function in
individual applications to maximise a window on the (big) monitor it was being
rendered on. I'm certain I did that several times in an X11 terminal in the
past couple of years, in order to view long lines in a text editor.

I'm also certain that I already tested watching videos fullscreen on that 1080p
monitor.

Today I noticed that fullscreen mode just spans my 2 screens.

But when I look at the XQuartz code I see no confirmation that this could ever
have worked, and from what I read, the XINERAMA extension is supposed to do
exactly what I am now seeing. But without XINERAMA the server will apparently
simply provide 2 separate screens and disallow moving windows between them.

What am I overlooking here?

I'm currently running a custom version of MacPorts's port:xorg-server-devel v
1.20.10 with a number of tweaks, including one that (according to my notes)
fixes pseudoramix from being broken by a patch from the mainstream port. I
already tried all older versions I kept deactivated, but they all behave the
same.

Is there anyone for whom maximisation *does* work on a per-screen basis and if
so, what xorg-server version and with what window manager?

Thanks in advance,
R.
