I am currently at a location where I only spend a few days a month.

I upgraded an M1 MBA to Sequoia 15.0.1 this afternoon.

I opened the App Store intending to update Xcode to the latest version. I
opened the Xcode page in the App Store and expected to see a button displaying
either “Update” or “Get”. Instead the button said “Open” which, in my previous
experience, indicates that the currently displayed version (16.0) is already
installed. Apparently this is not the case. Since I’d been informed by the App
Store that the latest version of Xcode was already installed I moved on.

I used software update in System Settings to update the Command Line Tools.
That went fine.

Then I did sudo port migrate and, to put it mildly, all hell broke loose.

Of course, contrary to the App Store’s assertion, the latest version of Xcode
was not installed. In spite of that, migrate went on to unsuccessfully attempt
to install all 341 previously installed ports.

Unfortunately, I had other obligations so had fled the scene before discovering
that everything was going wrong.

Once migrate had finished failing, I updated Xcode to the latest version (16)
and tried: "sudo port restore —last”

That seems to be working, but I started that yesterday afternoon and this
morning, 16 hours later, it’s still running. I’m assuming that’s because the
process was suspended when the machine went to sleep. Is that right? It seems
odd that it would take that long when I only have ten requested ports.

I’ll post again if there are any unwelcome events associated with the currently
running restore.

In summary, this is my third attempt to migrate MacPorts on machines upgraded
to Sequoia. None of the three has gone well.

That’s all folks.
