They seem to just be sitting there with no action. In the meantime I see that dlang folks added a script to install the compilers, (see https://github.com/dlang/dub/releases/download/) similar to rustup. I installed ldc with it (btw they install to the home folder so no special permissions needed), and it works just fine.
