* Ryan Schmidt: > When you upgrade, PLEASE UPGRADE XCODE AND THE XCODE COMMAND LINE > TOOLS. They are SEPARATE software packages that need to be updated > SEPARATELY. It's in the migration instructions; please follow them.
As I have been bit by this issue (see https://trac.macports.org/ticket/61453): It looks like one cannot rely on the command line tools' status. % xcode-select --install xcode-select: error: command line tools are already installed, use "Software Update" to install updates I had manually upgraded Xcode, rebooted, and only then launched the Big Sur upgrade. Afterwards, the command line tools were broken, the status message shown above did not match reality (which sort of fits how the days since November 3 have been going). Sorry Apple, that upgrade did not run as smoothly as it should have. :-/ -Ralph
