I think the patch section is obsolete. The patch was for tiger & leopard, then was incorporated upstream. Now it is not needed on Leopard anynore and we don't support Tiger at all.
If someone can have a look at it we can close the bug, which maybe doesn't get a look because of the "Tiger" title.
