This was changed in https://github.com/macports/macports-ports/commit/6fe093f0d3afdea30cef8526a400f3d62f2d5f62 My personal guess: no special reason other than trying to use a newer version given that it was available. It's a bit unfortunate if some ports use one version and others another, but in particular 5.30 is already obsolete. We need to add a minor fix to perl, then add subports for 5.34 and finally migrate all ports to depend on 5.34. Mojca
