Has anyone ever considered adding capabilities to m2e to show the output from "help:describe"? I could visualize different ways this could be presented. For instance, pressing F2 (show-tooltip-description) while hovering on an "artifactId" element in a plugin coordinate should show this, or on the "goal" element.
