I am using Lyx 2.0.7.1 on a Mac 10.6.8

I have a simple (less than 2 pages) document that has a few images. I
edited/cropped one image using an external editor (per right click menu). I
saved it over itself.

Now, no matter what I do, it refuses to update the picture. The uncropped
version appears.

In my lyxtmp folder, (which I set via the preferences to a folder in my
documents, since I seemed to be having a problem with the default not having
permissions...separate problem, but it is related, perhaps?) anyhoo, in the
lyx temp folder I can see a bunch of png and eps files. The png files match
the updated version. The eps remain like the uncropped original. I deleted
all the files, reran, and lo and behold, it came back (wrong) again.

I believed that I had moved the temp folder, but I found a folder
/Users/---/Library/Application Support/LyX-2.0/cache that had a bunch of
files endingn in eps, but without extensions, but if i added eps to them, I
could se they were the eps files from my lyx document, and I could see the
bad eps there. I deleted it, reran, and lo and behold, still no good.

I tried closing files, Lyx, and reconfiguring LyX. No go.
I tried reloading the picture. I tried deleting the picture, rerunning, then
inserting the picture again and other various combinations I could think of.

IN THE END: I did manage to get it to work by copying the original file with
a new name, and rerunning. This seems however to be overkill, forces me to
go hunting in the finder for the file, and ruins the naming scheme I use to
make it easier to keep my images in order. At any rate, I don't believe this
is how it should work. Why is there no way to force it to update.

Thanks...
