This is strange. It works very nice here with the LyX default (T1) font
encoding. Maybe you use the OT1 font encoding.

These are not *font* encodings but the encoding of the LaTeX input (the
*.tex source file).

Try to figure out how to set the font encoding to T1 (e.g. in
Tools>Configuration).
