After reading a bit further and asking friends which are more apt with LaTeX than me I realize that.

I had hoped for a fire-and-forget solution for all my graphs, but I will have to make adjustments for each.

I was still in the WYSIWYG-workflow, and wanted everything to look correctly while still writing. Instead, I will now concentrate on finishing my text and making it look good after I finished.

I have tried it, but it didn't do what I had in mind, so I dismissed it as incorrect. I will keep it in mind if I typeset my work.
