For years I have worked thus far with Scientific Workplace (SWP) and got
bored with it. Last week I downloaded the LyX Bundle, because I liked the
features

and documentation. I am trying it out following the LyX tutorial. I
immediately hit on some problems:

Two questions.

Question 1. Compared to my former TeX editor Scientific Workplace it takes
quite some time before LyX manages to view pdf. I have both Acrobat Reader X
and

Acrobat Pro X. LyX appears not to pick Acrobat Reader X, but Acrobat Pro X.
How is that? Might this be due to the fact that my LyX doesn't manage to
produce

a dvi view? (see Question 2).

Question 2. My LyX dvi viewer doesn't work. When I choose View/Other
Formats/DVI (or key Ctrl+D) I get a series of the following message:

==========
TrueTexDVI Previewer

Error loading TeX font metrics:
Font "ecrm0-600.{ofm.xfm,tfm}!
(ecrm0600)
(Cannot find file)
(Have you set the correct path for OFM/XFM/TFM files
in the Preferences menu?)
===========

finishing with a blank dvi page.

What does this mean? What and where are these OFM/XFM/TFM files? In the
Preferences Menu (i.e. Tools/Preferences) I don't see a corresponding
option.

Thnak you for instructions.
