I am a new LyX user, trying to view in pdf format a short file give to me by a
colleague. I receive the same error shown above, namely (from LaTeX Log):

) ("C:\Program Files\MiKTeX 2.9\tex\latex\psnfss\pifont.sty"
Package: pifont 2005/04/12 PSNFSS-v9.2a Pi font support (SPQR)
LaTeX Font Info: Try loading font information for U+pzd on input line 63.
("C:\Program Files\MiKTeX 2.9\tex\latex\psnfss\upzd.fd"
File: upzd.fd 2001/06/04 font definitions for U/pzd.
)
LaTeX Font Info: Try loading font information for U+psy on input line 64.
("C:\Program Files\MiKTeX 2.9\tex\latex\psnfss\upsy.fd"
File: upsy.fd 2001/06/04 font definitions for U/psy.
)
! Font U/psy/m/n/12=psyr at 12.0pt not loadable: Metric (TFM) file not found.
<to be read again>
                   relax
l.64 {\Pifont{psy}
                  }
I wasn't able to read the size data for this font,
so I will ignore the font specification.
[Wizards can fix TFM files using TFtoPL/PLtoTF.]
You might try inserting a different font spec;
e.g., type `I\font<same font id>=<substitute font name>'.

)

Attempting to view the Math and Embedded Objects files produces the same
error. The three files listed in the log above are present on my computer,
and the Latex Configuration file claims that they are present,
specifically, "• pifont (Zapf Dingbats). Found: yes".

Nonetheless, I have attempted to solve the problem by running LyX
tools/reconfigure and also MikTeX Update, both as administrator. They
appeared to run successfully but did not eliminate the problem. My pc
operating system is Windows 7, which is up to date.
