If you installed through the suftware-centre, 2011 has been *updated* to 2012. Consequeently, yo should have only 2012 installed (try to execute latex --version in e terminal, and it should tell you: rkrug@ecolmod:~$ latex --version pdfTeX 3.1415926-2.4-1.40.13 (TeX Live 2012) ... then you have 2012 installed.
