LyX 2.0.4 problems on Mac OSX 10.6.8

Hi. I had not updated my Lyx installation in a while. 
I downloaded lyx 2.0.4 and installed it on my 
Macbook pro running Mac OS X 10.6.8. 
All the template and example folders were empty.
I re-installed MacTex, removed Lyx, and reinstalled 
Lyx and the problem persists. 
I reconfigured Lyx and restarted Lyx but that 
did not solve the problem.
Any tips to fix this problem will be greatly appreciated.
