Thanks Yihui, That indeed solves my problem. A strange observation: I was reading the knitter documentation page and clicked by error on a tikzdevice and observed a sad message on CRAN:
Package ‘tikzDevice’ was removed from the CRAN repository. Formerly available versions can be obtained from the archive<http://cran.r-project.org/src/contrib/Archive/tikzDevice> . This package has been archived: the maintainer felt unable to provide an update fixing WARNINGs within reasonable amount of time. It seems that we do not have any more this very useful device. Very strange that such a useful library becomes unavailable.... Any information about this?
