What is your document class?
What LyX version?
What language?

Enumitem does not define a "List" layout.

If you mean the non-standard LyX addition "LyX-list", this is called
"Labeling" like in the KOMA-script classes.

With "button", do you mean the toolbar-icon?

It seems the toolbar-icons are not adapted to the name change
(enumitem.module uses the latex-name "elabeling" while KOMA-script uses
"labeling" and the LyX-additon uses "lyxlist").

Many developers prefer keyboard shortcuts over toolbar icons, so this might
have been overlooked.

Does it work if you use the "Labeling" entry in the drop-down list to
select layouts?
