Ok, I'm still new to Linux. I tried to export the file from LyX and removed babelshorthands but when I try reimport into LyX it doesn't seem to work. Where would I find this gloss-german.ldf and what needs to be changed there? Or would an update of texlive to the latest version fix the problem? (not sure how to do it though). Thanks so far, Tao
