I am successfully work on my thesis this way easily from late 1.5.x as far as I remeber; for sure on 1.6.x and now on 2.0.1 on Linux and 2.0.0. The only problems I really have (still unresolved) is different scaling of large pictures coming into PDF, what cause different clipping of such images between Linux rendered and Windows rendered PDFs (if I use clipping function). You have to make sure you have all packages you need for your document on Linux, the BIG advantage of MikTeX is its ability to automated download of needed packages (I really miss that feature in Linux*). The next thing which may blow up some problems is that TeXLive 2009 contains a lot of VERY OLD packages, so in comparison to what MikTeX 2.9 offer on Windows, the incompatibilities could be much more that minor. * I wait with longing for the day when TeX packages will not be managed by native distro packages system, but only by TeX specific packages system! -- Manveru jabber: manv...@manveru.pl gg: 1624001 http://www.manveru.pl
