It doesn't work because you are using an outdated version of LyX. You need at least LyX 1.6.8 to get modernCV working with the latest version of the modernCV LaTeX-package.
I recommend to update to LyX 1.6.10. regards Uwe attached is the version of the file that was created with LyX 1.6.8
