Ah. First, I now realize what a Metafile to EPS converter is, which I
would guess is used if pasting in, for example, a chart from Excel
into LyX. Is that right? I generate all my images in EPS format via
Matlab so it is not something I would notice if it went missing.

Second, I found the metafile2eps.exe file in C:\Program
Files\LyX16\bin. If a similar file is installed for LyX 2.0 and then
LyX 2.0 is uninstalled, would this necessarily be a problem for LyX
1.6?  Is a reference to the most recently installed version stored
somewhere like the registry?
