* Run LyX

* Open the Tools menu: this is the second from right menu (the furthest right
one is "help")

* Choose the Preferences menu item: this is the very last one on the tools menu
(i.e. 6th or 7th, depending on the LyX version).

* Choose the language page: on the left hand side of the dialog that's just
opened, there is a list of pages, some of which have chevrons (little
triangles)
next to them. Click on the 3rd one with a chevron.

* Choose English as a language: now the right hand side of the dialog box has
changed, the top drop-down list has a list of languages in it. I don't know
what
"English" is in Norwegian, but there should be three similar-looking versions
"English", "English (UK)" and "English (Canada)".

* Click on OK on the dialog box that pops up: this just says "you need to
restart LyX for this to take effect"

* Click the Save button: this is the left-most of the three buttons.

* Close and reopen LyX!

Hope this helps.
Jim
