Dear all: I'm using Book Memoire class to set books, using Palatino or

A peculiar problem: when I set a word in italics, it tends
tosticktothenextword, unless I manually place an inter-word space
between both. This can be quite time-consuming.
Could you tell me what's going wrong? I could send you a lyx file if
you'd like to see the problem. FN
I sometimes see that as well, but for me that is only the case within
LyX itself, not in the printed document. Check that there really is (or
isn't) a space between the two words by advancing the cursor across the
space. If so, then the issue is that the fonts used by LyX to
approximate the printed fonts are a little mismatched. This can depend
greatly on the OS (I would imagine, though I have only used LyX on linux
and aix), and on the display fonts chosen.

if not entirely, the use of textbooks
