Hi all,

I am quite new to Lyx/Latex so sorry if this is a stupid question.

I am currently writing my PhD thesis using Lyx and would like to insert a PDF
of a paper I have published as an appendix.

After googling what to do, I used Insert--->File---->External
Material----->PDFpages--->paper.pdf w/ 'pages=-' in the LaTeX options to
display all the pages as per the pdfpages documentation.

After using View--->View Source, I found that \usepackage{pdfpages} was already
in the default preamble of my Lyx version, so I tried to compile the pdf. I got
the following error descriptions:

\end{figure}

You've closed more groups than you opened.
Such booboos are generally harmless, so keep going.

 \end{figure}
Your command was ignored.
Type  I <command> <return>  to replace it with another command,or  <return>  to
continue without it.

 \end{figure}Things are pretty mixed up, but I think the worst is over.

Apart from bringing a smile to my face, these descriptions did not help the
situation much. After finding the pdfpages package on CTAN, i realised it was a
more current version that I had installed in:
/usr/local/texlive/2007/texmf-dist/tex/latex/pdfpages/

so as per the instructions here:

http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/LaTeX/Packages/Installing_Extra_Packages

I downloaded the .ins and .dtx files, ran them through latex, and moved the
resulting files to the same place to see if this would help. I then
reconfigured and resarted Lyx. Same error messages.

If any would could give me some advice on how to get this package working or
another way to achieve my goal, I would really appreciate it. My thesis is well
overdue!

Cheers,

Joe.
