Guessing: There have been changes in Xorg, and the detection system for the display/keyboard/mouse/etc. Could it be that 11.4 installed a video driver without acceleration? (I'm a rather casual user of OpenSUSE, and I don't know how this is managed there. However, I did have quite an encounter with the xorg changes starting to depend on dbus) Also, did you run LyX from a terminal to check if there isn't a load of messages appearing? John
