Yes, I saw it. But no, apply versus ok doesn't make a difference.

Yes, that is true. I should have sent the file, that I have attached
now. For example, it has set the Sans Serif font to "Arial Narrow". If
I open this document in Lyx, and examine the document setting, I
notice that the sans font changed to "default". However, this doesnt
get written into the file itself, only after some other changes
occured and were saved.
It's possible there are missing quotes in the LyX file header, e.g.:
\font_sans_serif Arial Narrow
vs
\font_sans_serif "Arial Narrow"
I'll investigate....
