These features definitely are there on Mac. Tools > Compare... exists
for me, and you can find continuous spellchecking as a preference
option: LyX > Preferences > Language Settings > Spellchecker >
Spellcheck continuously.

Are you sure you're looking at a LyX-2.0 beta?
