looking again on the numbers, when rescaling pdflatex part we get 13*6 =78 8 *6 =48 which is very near to the 78/53 fraction. so the issue has most probably only little to do with lyx speed itself. either pdflatex goes more slowly or .tex file produced is more complicated. (pdflatex is not part of lyx...) pavel
