I have fontspec v2.1e (2010/11/17), which is the most recent version on CTAN. The documentation states: "Ross Moore’s xunicode package is now automatically loaded for users of both XELATEX and LuaLATEX." So it seems to me that the situation is reverse (unless you use an unreleased pre-release) Jürgen
