Yes, it should suffice to 'mv .lyx .lyx.bak' or similar. Then, if it
still fails, try removing the lyx installation completely and check
specifically that lyx2lyx gets removed, and then re-install.
Otherwise, make sure that you're actually trying to use 2.0.0 beta and
not 1.6.8. ;)
