Sorry for the typo Forrest, I have misspelled your first name in my reply.

Thank you Forredt for your tips about OO, I will try them. I mainly use Neo office for quickly checking the dataset before working on it in R-project (where I do my analysis). I was not aware of latticist (there are so mant R plibraries, it is difficult to follow them ;-) ), I will definitely check it. I have indeed heard some good reviews of scipy, but not yet started to learn Python (LyX and Sage made to begin to look at Python as a potential tool for quickly developping small tools, I am rather a Java person, but it would be nice to have a straightforward language for quickly putting together small utilities.

Importing works just fine in OpenOffice for me. When you go to open a CSV file, it will give you an import dialog. Make sure to choose the appropriate input settings (comma delimiter, quotes around fields, etc).

Though in general I often work with fairly large data files, and find that Excel/OO are not the best choices for doing data analysis. Personally, I prefer using the Python scripting language, along with the scipy toolkit and matplotlib for plotting. I also sometimes use R. There's a great package for R called "latticist" which works wonders creating a variety of graphs from your data, and you don't need to know very many abstruse R commands to use it.

I will test it again, but I have the impression that NeoOffice calc does not recognize them as numbers, but strings (so must do Open Office, I imagine). I must also test it with R. I have not tested with Excel yet. I also understand that other items can steal the priority. This is not blocking anyway, since we can just search and replace them if necessary. I really love now the possibilities offered by Behaviour Space (I would also like to test Behaviour Search as soon as I can).
