It defaults to "table of contents" so I hadn't realized it could be used in this way. Good tip. Looks like it's time for me to go through the documentation a bit more thoroughly. All, While I use vim for many tasks, I have still never found a program as good as LyX when it comes to taking notes for classes. It's the only program I'm aware of that a skilled user (not me, I'm not quite fast enough yet) can keep up taking notes on a computer in a Mathematics or Engineering class. You just can't get the equations and formulas in quickly enough with anything else. Go LyX! Jacob
