Hi Rob,

I didn't dare so far, because LyX is my most important tool.

Most of my work on the computer is preparing texts of different types.
And for _all_ my documents I use LyX. (Having invested a bit of time in
my personalized templates, in the majority of cases I don't have to
think about the formal part of my document.)

It's an interesting approach, which I appreciate.
BTW My Admiration for your web site: Very appealing, very interesting
topics, very interesting links (Tufte I knew already and am glad about
that ;-)

Certainly I will tweak your template a bit to get closer to my personal
standards. If you are interested in the result I can send it to you when
I have reached a state acceptable for me.

Features which would be interesting for me (and maybe for somebody else):

* I would like a cc: line in the header part
Certainly simple to realize similar to the to/from parts

* Permit a another placement of the logo e.g. in the upper left corner
I've no experience yet with LyX insets, so ?

* Permit some sort of textual logo (for people who know some LaTeX like
me using different fonts, sizes, color, etc.)
An elementary form could be an ERT block instead of the graphics inset
but I don't have any idea how to do that in lyx

* Offer fancy headers and footers
(I'm somewhat compulsive wrt Author/Copyright and date on _every_ page
of my documents, even memos ;-)
Could probably be done on LaTeX level already in the preamble ?

* Maybe using koma's scrartcl class would give more flexibility
(as german LyX user I use it quite a lot)

I thought about a document type of this sort already, but the need was
not yet sufficiently strong. (I have to admit that quite a lot of things
I do is event-driven. I've learned to live with this situation.)

In the hope that some of my ideas are interesting for you,
Cheers

Hellmut
