Dear LyX users, I am trying to understand the principles behind cursor and window behavior in the LyX GUI during table editing. Suppose you're working on a table that fits into the open document window completely. Move the cursor (using either a mouse click or the arrow-down key) into a row of the table. The window view jumps so that the line of the table that contains the cursor is now either at the top of the LyX window or the table is repositioned in the window. But this isn't necessary---and it can be kind of a pain, since it realigns the window in a way that's inconsistent with what happens during text editing, and sometimes it makes it hard to find the cursor. During editing regular text, the window view moves down only when the cursor line would otherwise be too low to see.
I suspect this is a feature, but I am hoping that it is a bug that can be fixed! Ideally (in my view, anyway), tables would behave the same way as text behaves. Technical details: Mac OS 10.6.3, LyX 1.6.6.1. I am sorry if this has been discussed recently--I only today noticed that the LyX user mailing list unsubscribed everyone more than a month ago... Maria
