The included has the LyX document, the pdf it produces, and the eps
figure (which I think is necessary for LyX to compile).
Answer: because my margins were so narrow, and the figure so big.
Never mind. Sometimes I need to publicly embarrass myself before I
figure out an answer; thank you all for providing the venue.
